Wiljo Wimmer

Wiljo Wimmer (born May 4, 1961 in Zons ) is a German politician ( CDU ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

biography

After graduating from high school and doing military service, Wimmer studied law at the University of Cologne from 1981 and settled in Dormagen as a lawyer after taking the second state examination in 1990 .

politics

Wimmer joined the CDU in 1987 and was a member of the Dormagen City Council from 1994 to 2014. From 2000 to 2014 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there. After he did not run again in the 2014 local elections, he was inherited in this role by André Heryschek in June 2014 . Wimmer was elected directly to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 for the state electoral district of Rhein-Kreis Neuss II . After the early state elections on May 13, 2012, he had to surrender the constituency back to his SPD competitor Rainer Thiel .
