William Gilbert Award

The William Gilbert Award is a prize for achievements in geomagnetism and paleomagnetism that has been presented annually by the American Geophysical Union since 2003 . Every two years (even-numbered years) it is awarded to young scientists (younger than 36 years, five or fewer years after completing their doctorate).

It is named after William Gilbert , who introduced the concept of the earth's magnetic field in De Magnete 1600.
