William H. Potstock
William Herman Potstock , actually Wilhelm Hermann Potstock (* 1872 in Northern Germany, † 1941 in Chicago ) was a German-American musician and composer . His best known work is Souvenir de Sarasate .
Life
As a child, Potstock emigrated with his family from Prussia to the USA via Bremen in 1881. He lived and worked as a freelance music teacher and musician in Chicago. In 1895 he married Martha Bock, the couple had two children: Stella (* 1896) and Eugene (* 1901 in Chicago, † 1979 in Wisconsin). His daughter Stella was also a musician.
