William Karfiol , also Wilhelm Karfiol (* in the 19th century ; † in the 20th century ) was a German film producer , film director and screenwriter who has been completely forgotten today, but is very productive .

Live and act

Shortly before the outbreak of the First World War, Karfiol worked for Eiko-Film, but switched to National-Film in 1914 and to Messter-Film in 1915 . In 1916, after an interlude in a Budapest studio, he founded his own production company, Karfiol-Film, with which he produced all of his productions until 1919. His productions show him as a specialist in comedies, pranks and comedies.

From the mid-20s, Karfiol received hardly any offers from directors. He then turned to other fields of activity. For example, he can be traced back to 1925/26 as the choreographer of the ice ballet Die Laune der Favoritin in the Berlin Sports Palace . Towards the end of the silent film era, a film director took him to Prague .

With the dawn of the age of talkies, Karfiol made little promising attempts as a producer of a few short and feature films. Classified as a so-called "full Jew" by the National Socialists in 1933, his career was over. After that his track is lost.
