William P. Fay

William Patrick Fay († September 7, 1969 in Dublin ) was an Irish diplomat.

Fay was inducted into the Bar Council of Ireland in 1931 and practiced as a lawyer until 1937. From then on he began to work in the Department of the Attorney General . He later moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held various posts. Among other things, he was chargé d' affaires at the Irish representation in Brussels from 1947 to 1950 , and Irish envoy in Norway and Sweden from 1950 to 1951 .

During his further diplomatic career, Fay was ambassador to France , from 1960 to 1964 ambassador to Canada and from 1964 until his death ambassador to the United States . Fay died as a result of a brain operation he had undergone in Dublin.
