The location of the fountain has changed over the years. It was a popular photo subject as early as the 1950s. First he stood in a place that is now occupied by the Sandakan Municipal Council . In the early 1960s the memorial was moved to a place above the town of Padang . From this advantageous place - the monument overlooked the sports facilities and could be seen from afar - it had to give way again when the North Road was expanded into a four-lane road.
The city administration initially stored the fountain. The monument found its current place on "MPS Square" together with the memorial for the officials of the Chartered Company after the redesign of the former hockey field.
