William Wadsworth
William Wadsworth was an officer in the New York State Militia before and during the British-American War of 1812.
As a brigadier general , he was in command of the New York Militia under the command of the US Army in the Battle of Queenston Heights . He renounced to take command of Army Commander-in-Chief Winfield Scott . At the end of the battle, Wadsworth and over 900 other soldiers were taken prisoner by the British after the American forces on the Canadian side of the Niagara River were cut off. They surrendered to avoid a massacre by the Indians employed by the British.
