Wilstermarsch cheese

Wilstermarschkäse is a German cheese made from cow's milk . It originally comes from the Wilstermarsch in Schleswig-Holstein . It has lost much of its former importance in the past few years.

It is a semi-hard cheese with a proportion of 30% to 50% fat i. Tr. The bark is treated with red smear bacteria . The typical taste is created by storage in special cheese ripening film. It is usually made in the shape of a box or bread in different dimensions or round with a diameter of 30 cm and a height of 10 cm. The maturation period is around five weeks. The weight is 4 kg for box-shaped loaves and 6 kg for round loaves. The cheese belongs to the Tilsiter family .
