WinErs is a modular process control and automation system with an integrated soft PLC . It is suitable for the implementation of real-time regulations and real-time controls, for measurement data acquisition, archiving and documentation, logging, process visualization and for the simulation of dynamic systems . Software alternatives are LabVIEW or DMM Profilab .

history

WinErs was developed on the basis of the ERSIS program system implemented at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. Since then, the engineering office Dr.-Ing. Schoop GmbH continuously developed.

Structure and architecture

WinErs is structured according to the client-server model. This architecture makes it possible to distribute the computing power required by WinErs to several tasks, whereby the server carries out the data acquisition, control, regulation and simulation and the client uses the server data, visualizes them, takes over the administration and forms the user interface. In the program package, the server is implemented by the WRPServ program and the client by the main program WinErs. This structure makes it possible to connect several PCs to a server and thus to set up multi-user systems and redundant systems (multi-client).

Organization and administration

The WinErs program package is available as a 32-bit version that runs under Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012 or Windows XP Embedded.

Versions

WinErs differentiates between the developer (professional) and the runtime version. The professional version has a modular structure. The following modules are available:

module description
Basic module
Measured value acquisition I Standard measurement, cyclical measurement
Measured value acquisition II Long-term measurement, event measurement
Taxes & Regulations I Block structures
Taxes & Regulations II GRAFCET, Fuzzy and other special blocks
Process visualization Process pictures
Logs Protocols, statistical signals, batches, series of measurements and tests (CMVs)
Alarms and messages Alarms, online messages, notifications
Recipes Static recipes
Batch recipes Process recipes, dynamic recipes
Multi-user administration User names and rights, user groups, security mechanisms, network capability, workstations
Automation Jobs, ActiveX interface, OPC server, automation, etc. a. with Visual Basic
Web server Web server for process task WRPServ

With the runtime version, the end user can be provided with a runtime version that no longer allows configuration.

Process connection

WinErs enables a process connection on the basis of drivers that are connected to the process task. Any form of process coupling is possible via the driver, since the driver interface is open. Very flexible and powerful process drivers are available for WinErs, which cover a wide range of applications. Some commonly used process drivers are:

  • The OPC driver allows the connection of a large number of devices, provided that the device manufacturer provides an OPC interface for these (which is becoming increasingly popular). OPC (OLE for Process Control) is a standard for process data exchange under Windows.
  • The TCPIP driver can be used for the devices on the network with the TCP / IP protocol.
  • The S7 driver can be used to connect the widely used Simatic S7 PLCs.
  • The router driver can be used to network several WRPServ process tasks (multi-server system) or for redundant systems.
  • The message driver can send messages and alarms to recipients via fax, e-mail, paging, SMS and other media.
  • The database driver can write signal values to or read from databases. Various access modes and calculation types are available. The database driver works with all ODBC-compliant databases for which an ODBC driver is available.

A full list can be found on the manufacturer's website.

Didactic

For use in teaching there are WinErs versions with limited functionality.

  • WinErs laboratory version: Limited to 8 analog inputs, 8 analog outputs, 16 binary inputs and 16 binary outputs.
  • WinErs simulation version: limited to the simulation function, without inputs and outputs.
  • GRAFCET laboratory version: Restricted to the use of GRAFCET with 8 × analog inputs, 8 × analog outputs, 16 × binary inputs and 16 × binary outputs.
