WinImage is a program for creating, reading and writing memory images under Windows. It is being developed by Gilles Vollant.

WinImage was developed in 1993 as a program for diskette memory images for Windows NT 3.1 . It offers the option of reading out floppy disks and saving them as a memory image on the hard disk, editing them and writing memory images back to disk together with the boot sector . All common 5.25 "and 3.5" disk formats, as well as rarer standards such as DMF, are supported. Newer versions also support ISO images as well as VHD and VMDK hard disk images (FAT and FAT32 writing, NTFS and ext2 reading).

The latest version of WinImage is 9.00, which supports Windows 2000 and newer operating systems as 32- and 64-bit editions, respectively. WinImage is a shareware program that must be purchased after 30 days.

WinImage is one of the most widespread programs of its kind. The current 9.00 edition has been downloaded more than half a million times from the CNET portal .

safety

The WinImage installation program and all self-extracting executable archives for Microsoft Windows created with WinImage have security flaws.
