WinPlan ( own spelling W IN P LAN ) was a software for the semi-automatic, interactive creation of timetables for Windows. The program was developed by Walter Schrewe on behalf of the Ministry for Schools and Further Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MSW). The development has been stopped since December 2012.

functionality

In WinPlan the procedure is reproduced that is known from the planning of the timetable on the pegboard. First you enter the lesson distribution, then the specifications for the plan, then the plan is calculated and then optimized. The lesson distribution as well as numerous plans and lists can be printed out. The program can also be used to create the daily substitution plan. All entries are checked for admissibility.

Further development

On November 26th, 2012, Frank Pfotenhauer, MSW consultant for school management software, announced in the NRW School Management Forum that the development of WinPlan has been discontinued. Before that, there were already inquiries about the functionality of WinPlan on 64-bit operating systems. WinPlan is designed as a 16-bit application ; Support for 16-bit applications is not provided in 64-bit versions of Windows , which is why the software will not run on these versions of Windows . Even after the setting, errors reported in the school administration forum in North Rhine-Westphalia regarding WinPlan were corrected through updates.

Walter Schrewe announced on December 5, 2012 that the software would be further developed in cooperation with a well-known software house.
