description

The windmill is isolated in the scattered settlement of Hoddom around three kilometers west of Ecclefechan. The building dates from the 18th century. The round tower of the former mill is essentially still preserved today. Most of the machinery inside has been removed. The masonry of the tower is made of quarry stone . The concluding slate-covered conical roof with a weather vane dates from the late 19th century. The edged building openings are rectangular.

Adjacent to the north, a horse peg was added in the early 19th century . The entrance opening of the circular building extends over the entire height of the building up to the slate-covered conical roof. Individual systems consisting of windmills and göpeln are very rarely found. The associated stables were built in the 18th and 19th centuries. The facades of the one to two story buildings are partially whitewashed. The detached farmhouse dates from the late 19th century and is listed separately as a monument.
