Windows DVD Player
The Windows DVD player is in several Microsoft operating systems contained software for playing DVDs .
Windows DVD Player was introduced with Windows 98 and was later included in Windows 2000 , but required the installation of an MPEG card in the computer to play DVDs, which were never very common. It was only with Windows Me that software codecs could also be used to play DVDs. Windows DVD Player was removed with Windows XP and the functionality was built into Windows Media Player , which has since been able to play DVDs after installing a suitable codec.
In Windows 10 , the Windows DVD Player is available again as an app. Users who upgraded to Windows 10 from a Windows 7 or 8 with Windows Media Center installed will automatically receive the app with the upgrade; all other people have to purchase the app from the Windows Store .
