history

The first newspaper and the predecessor of today's Windsor Star was the weekly Windsor Record in 1888. In 1918 the newspaper was renamed the Border Cities Star when it was bought by WF Herman . In the years that followed, several regional newspapers were taken over and merged under the name Windsor Star by 1959 . WF Hermann died in 1938, so that his wife, Adie Knox Herman , took over the business. In 1971 the newspaper was sold to Southam Press which in turn was taken over by CanWest in 2000. After buying up parts of the insolvent CanWest, Postmedia Network took over the newspaper.
