Winfried Flach (born February 5, 1933 in Falkenstein , Taunus ) is a German painter and sculptor .

Career

After childhood, high school in Kronberg and commercial school in Frankfurt, he trained in his parents' leather goods company up to master fine bag maker, before he worked for trading companies in management for purchasing and design. His talent for painting was already encouraged in school by the art teacher Senkte and the desire to paint always accompanied him. The desire to work with colors and to design something got stronger and stronger, he was particularly fascinated by the clear and unadulterated colors of Brazil and Colombia. Since 1992 he has only devoted himself to painting and sculpture. The first years as a freelance artist he worked in Palm Beach, USA. He has been painting on Mallorca, which has become his second home, since 1998.

Artistic creation

The central aspects of the painter Flach are the colors and the light. In his pictures he juxtaposes unusual color contrasts and lets them interact with one another. He is not limited to color field painting, rather he gives the colors that dissolve at the edges scope and the opportunity for interaction. The tulip was more strongly represented in his earlier pictures, but less in his later works. However, the tulip is still a focal point in his sculptures. The composition of rusting iron and varnishing the iron tulip head high gloss represents a contrast that is always fascinating. With his large sculptures he wants to show the way to common ground with a view to problems, arguments, separation, integration and racism. He expresses this well with his 2.40 m high iron sculpture "GET-TOGETHER". In 2011 the painting “DOS” won the “PALM AWARD” of the Art Domain gallery in Leipzig. His works are primarily characterized by the tension between different materials. For example, rusted iron is encased in lacquer and stainless steel, iron is worked into oil paintings or iron filings and plastic are integrated into fillings made on wood. At the end of 2013 Flach had a TV appearance together with the well-known singer and artist Rainhard Fendrich on N24. In front of the camera, he created a work for the art advent calendar on the subject of the future.
