The angle head and the angle shield base are two heraldic images in heraldry .

A point is shown on the top of the coat of arms or in the base of the shield . The point that points from the upper edge of the shield or the bottom of the shield base to the center of the coat of arms must not exceed the height of an imaginary shield head or shield base. Simplified, it is a shield head or a shield base, instead of which the widespread straight division from the rest of the coat of arms appears here in a pointed design in the coat of arms. Such a division of the coat of arms is called mantelé in French .
