Wintun
The Wintun (also Wintuan , Wintoon ) are a group of related American Indian tribes that live in Northern California - to which the tribes of the so-called. Wintu (Northern Wintun), the Nomlaki (Central Wintun) and the Patwin (Southern Wintun) belong. Their area extends roughly from today's Lake Shasta to San Francisco Bay , along the western side of the Sacramento River to the coast. What these tribes have in common is that they speak one of the Wintuan languages .
