As manure , also economics own fertilizer or manure , organic substances are referred incurred in agriculture and forestry and fertilizers are used.

species

Farm manures of animal origin are mainly liquid manure , liquid manure and manure . The vegetable substances include straw , which is worked into the soil after the grain harvest, leftover feed, bark mulch and other plant residues. Digestate from biogas production is also a farm manure .

meaning

For centuries, manure was the basis of nutrient supplementation and the maintenance of soil fertility. The importance changed with the progress of technology and the natural sciences, that is, the conversion from solid to liquid manure processes and the increasing use of mineral fertilizers.

One of the importance of organic fertilizers is the return of organic matter to the soil as food for the soil organisms and as a starting material for humus formation. In addition, important plant nutrients are added to the soil with the manure. All farm manures are considered complex fertilizers . The nutrient content of farm manure is gaining in importance with rising prices for mineral fertilizers. The results of nutrient analyzes (e.g. slurry analyzes and soil studies ) provide important information for the optimal utilization of the fertilizer effect and the environmentally friendly use of farm manure .

Nitrogen effect

The nitrogen content of organic fertilizers is made up of a rapidly available mineral part (essentially NH 4 -N) and a more slowly available organically bound part. The respective proportions are different for the organic fertilizers.

The availability of the organically bound nitrogen follows the sequence: sewage sludge> liquid manure> manure> compost.

In addition to the main nutrients N, P, K, the organic fertilizers also contain considerable amounts of Ca, Mg and trace nutrients.

Legal classification

Farm manure is considered to be fertilizer and is therefore subject to fertilizer legislation. If they are used on one's own farm, the requirements of the Fertilizer Ordinance must be complied with in Germany , including regulations on application quantities and times. The fertilizer ordinance requires, among other things, a declaration of the nutrient content and takes effect when farmyard manure is given to other companies. In addition, the regulation on the placing on the market and transport of farm manure must be observed.
