Science and Technology Studies
The science and technology studies , and science and technology studies , form an interdisciplinary scientific field that deals with the interaction between society, politics, culture and the creation of scientific knowledge and the development and innovation of technology employed.
STS between the disciplines
In Germany as well as internationally, the STS field serves the interdisciplinary analysis and theory development of phenomena in technology , science and technoscience . The STS field overlaps with the areas of interest in classic disciplines, such as the sociology of technology , the sociology of science , the history of science , the sociology of technology , cultural anthropology , political science and human geography as well as the field of science research .
Theory development and analytical approaches
Essential theories were developed in the STS. At the same time, STS questions what theories are and how they work in research practice. Known in Germany are, for example, the actor-network theory and the social construction of technology .
