Knowledge modeling
Knowledge modeling (English Knowledge Engineering ) is used to map knowledge in knowledge-based systems . It is a branch of knowledge management and artificial intelligence . To model knowledge, the following tasks have to be accomplished:
- Recording and structuring of explicit and implicit knowledge (knowledge acquisition )
- Formalization and mapping in the computer ( knowledge representation and creation of a knowledge database )
- Processing to solve certain problems (for example in an expert system by an inference engine )
- Representation of knowledge ( information visualization )
A major problem in knowledge modeling is the capture of implicit knowledge and the semantic gap .
