history

On October 15, 1881, operations began on the 10.6-kilometer route. From 1885 there was a connection in Perleberg to the Prignitzer Railway Company (PEG) in the direction of Wittstock on the Dosse . From 1932 the PEG also took over the management of the WPE. For military reasons, the Wittenberge-Perleberger Eisenbahn as well as the Prignitzer Eisenbahn AG and the subsequent Mecklenburg Friedrich-Wilhelm-Eisenbahn were nationalized on January 1, 1941 and placed under the Deutsche Reichsbahn .
