Wladimir Anatoljewitsch Jakowlew ( Russian: Владимир Анатольевич Яковлев ; born November 25, 1944 in Oljokminsk , Yakut ASSR ) is a Russian politician. He was Vice Prime Minister of the country and Minister for Regional Development, Municipal Housing and Nationalities from mid-2004 to September 2007.

Yakovlev was governor (mayor) of Saint Petersburg from 1996 to 2003 and worked there with Vladimir Putin - since then, both have been said to have deeply disliked each other.

Yakovlev studied civil engineering and was then responsible for urban redevelopment as an engineer for a long time. He worked in the St. Petersburg administration together with Vladimir Putin under the then governor Anatoly Sobchak . In the 1996 gubernatorial election he ran against his foster father Sobchak - Sobchak's environment and Putin considered this treason, but Yakovlev won the election. In 2003 he was replaced by Valentina Matviyenko in this office, as Yakovlev was no longer allowed to run for a new election.

Subsequently, until September 2007 he was Vice-Prime Minister responsible for municipal housing.
