The weekly of the Association of German Engineers was a magazine that appeared weekly between 1877 and 1883. The draft of the first VDI guideline was published in it.

In 1876 the Association of German Engineers (VDI) decided to set up a second magazine alongside the magazine of the Association of German Engineers . The aim was that the association's announcements such as announcements from the board to the members or reports from the district associations of the VDI should be published in it. Potential contributors should also be given the opportunity to publish short experience reports outside of scientific publications . The first issue appeared on January 6, 1877. The weekly publication of the Association of German Engineers was free for VDI members. Non-members could subscribe to it together with the magazine of the Association of German Engineers , an individual subscription was not possible.

Theodor Peters , who was entrusted with the editing of the VDI's own magazines, successfully applied at the 24th general meeting of the VDI in Dortmund in 1883 to merge the two magazines. Peters incorporated the weekly into the magazine of the Association of German Engineers , which appeared weekly from then on. The reason given for the merger was the fragmentation of both the choice of topics and the advertising business.

In 1882 the first draft of the first VDI guideline was published in the weekly of the Association of German Engineers .
