The residential and banking house at Hauptstrasse 126 is a listed building in Heidelberg .

It was built in 1900/01 by Jakob Henkenhaf and Friedrich Ebert for the Oberrheinische Bank . The house has been used by Heidelberg University since 1939 . In 1966, still scheduled for demolition, the building could be preserved. 1991-1993 a repair took place.

The representative three-storey house with a pitched roof is located in the middle of Hauptstrasse , the most important street in Heidelberg's old town , on Universitätsplatz . To the south is the Old University , to the north the central gate of the old city wall used to stand. The two façades facing Hauptstrasse and Universitätsplatz are in the Neo-Renaissance style, based on the recently restored Friedrichsbau of Heidelberg Castle . The windows have heads as keystones. The coats of arms of Mannheim, Heidelberg and Baden are affixed above the windows of the second floor. There is a polygonal tower marker on the corner. The richly decorated main portal led into the counter hall, from where the vault is accessible. A side entrance opens up the upper floors, where there were offices and apartments at the time of construction. Inside, stucco ceilings and terrazzo floors have been preserved. The building is considered an outstanding historic building in Heidelberg.
