Wolfgang Fleischer (historian)

Wolfgang Fleischer (* 1952 ) is a German military historian .

Life

Fleischer started working for the National People's Army at the Army Museum of the GDR in 1972 . He studied history in the GDR and graduated with the academic degree "Diplom-Historiker". After reunification, Fleischer was taken over by the German Armed Forces as a senior civil servant specializing in a specialty and currently holds the title of Scientific Senior Councilor and is a visiting lecturer for historical ordnance at the Dresden explosives school.

Fleischer was a member of the historical commission of the state capital Dresden on the air raids on Dresden between February 13 and 15, 1945 .

Fleischer came under public criticism after the publication of the book Saxony in 1945 by the NPD's own publishing house, German Voice, and an interview in the right-wing extremist German military magazine .
