Wolfgang Krenn (born January 25, 1953 ) is a former German soccer player . The midfielder played for VfB Eppingen in the 2nd Bundesliga .

Athletic career

Krenn played in the 1970s for SV Germania Bietigheim in the third-class 1st Amateur League North Württemberg . At the end of the 1977/78 season, the club occupied the penultimate place and thus not only missed the qualification for the newly introduced Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , but also rose to the now fifth-rate Landesliga Württemberg . He then moved to VfB Eppingen , who played in the fourth-class Verbandsliga Nordbaden . As a champion, he rose with the club in the league, where the team was surprisingly runner-up behind the amateur team of VfB Stuttgart . Since this was not eligible for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, the North Baden club moved up. The second highest German division turned out to be too strong for the club, with seven wins from 38 games at the bottom of the club's direct relegation. He had played 15 league games under coach Heiner Ueberle and scored his only professional goal with the Eppinger honorary goal in the 1: 2 defeat against SpVgg Fürth . The rapid rise was followed by sudden relegation - even in the 1981/82 league season , only eight wins of the season were achieved and Krenn was relegated to fourth division with the club.

Krenn then returned to SV Germania Bietigheim, where he was active as a player-coach for several years.
