Wolfgang Reiland (* 1957 ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From March 1, 2003 to February 28, 2019, he was mayor of the Trier-Land community .

Life

During his studies from 1976 to 1979 he was a student member of the council of the Trier University of Applied Sciences and of the mechanical engineering department. After completing his studies as a graduate engineer (FH), he worked from 1979 to 1982 as a graduate engineer. in a mechanical engineering factory in Trier. From 1982 to 1999 he was employed by the Trier municipal utility. There, after successfully completing a further degree in business administration, he was appointed operations manager and deputy operations director. From 2000 to 2003 he was plant manager in charge of the Trier-Land municipal works (Trier-Land wastewater works and Trier-Land water works, including the management of several wastewater systems in Luxembourg partner municipalities, as well as the management of the Kylltal baths.)

Wolfgang Reiland is married and has three grown children.

He has been a member of the CDU since 1981. From 1982 to 2000 he was a board member of the CDU Ehrang. During this period he was a member of the Ehrang-Quint local council for several years. From 2003 to 2019 he was a member of the municipal association board of the CDU Trier-Land.


From 1993 to 1999 he was a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Trier GmbH as spokesman for the employee representatives. From 2003 to 2019 Wolfgang Reiland was mayor of the Verbandsgemeinde Trier-Land and from 2009 to 2014 a member of the municipal council of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and chairman of the Trier district. He was a member of the state board and the state committee of the Rhineland-Palatinate Association of Municipalities and Cities from 2009 to 2019. From 2015 to 2019 he was chairman of the fire service specialist committee.

On June 13, 2010, he was re-elected as mayor of the Trier-Land community for the period from March 1, 2011 to February 28, 2019 with 88.6% yes votes in a direct election.

On March 1, 2019, Wolfgang Reiland retired for reasons of age.
