Wolfgang Schenkel

Wolfgang Schenkel (born October 16, 1936 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German Egyptologist .

Schenkel received his doctorate from the University of Bonn in 1961 . In 1964/65 he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . In 1974 he completed his habilitation at the University of Göttingen . From the winter semester 1978/79 to 2002 he was professor of Egyptology at the University of Tübingen .

Since 1999 he has been a corresponding member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences .
