The Wolfmüller glider is a glider designed by the aviation pioneer Alois Wolfmüller .
history
In 1907 and 1908 , Alois Wolfmüller (1864–1948) carried out flight tests near his hometown Landsberg am Lech with the glider . He donated the glider to the Deutsches Museum in 1934 . The missing horizontal stabilizer was only found in 1991 and is on loan from the New City Museum in Landsberg am Lech.
The glider is exhibited today in the Schleissheim aircraft yard .
construction
In 1894 Alois Wolfmüller acquired a normal sailing apparatus from Otto Lilienthal . In order to avoid the disadvantages of steering by shifting weight, he developed a corset that transfers the movements of the pilot on the seat board to the rudder, elevator and rotating flaps in the lower wings.
