Wolf Moon is a power metal - band from the Lower Saxony district town Helmstedt in Germany .

history

Wolfs Moon was founded in 1992 by guitarist Gerd Simson, drummer Andreas Rinke and singer Carsten Pasemann ("Maxe"). In the same year the demo A Dream Beyond A Dream was recorded. As a result, the band had several live performances. The second demo Awake in Visions followed in 1994 . Then singer Pasemann got out and was replaced for a short time by keyboardist Christian Görke. With this the first album Solitary Lunacy appeared in self-production. Then Pasemann returned. The second album Eternal Flame marked the entry of bassist Peter Dickert. After a few live performances, the record company Metal bastard re-released the album and placed it in the EMP mailorder .

In 1999 Elysium Dreams was released , a concept album about "Duke of Damnation". It was a fictional character, invented by Gerd Simson (Sammy), who can be seen as a mascot on various publications of the band. The drawings came from Claude Klein. The album was released again as an in-house production, but Aris ( Ariola ) could be found as a distribution partner. A song of the CD appeared on the compilation of Metal Merchant -Versandes.

In 2001 the fourth album was released on Gutter Records . Again as a concept album, the work was created in the Whiteline studio under the direction of Uwe Golz. The band was able to put another piece on the metal merchant's sampler. She also played at the Hardlive Festival in Hagen and took part in the newcomer competition Bands Battle. Dickert got out shortly after publication and was replaced by Marco Dammann.

In 2004, Keep Metal Alive followed via MDD Mailorder / Soulfood . It was also the last concept album dedicated to the "Duke of Damnation". In 2008 the band signed with Pure Steel Records . The album Unholy Darkness was released there on June 6, 2008 . The album is about the vampire Kayne and his sister Draconia, staged by the comic artist Toni Greis .

While working on the album Curse the Cult of Chaos , Carsten Pasemann had to leave the band for health reasons. Robert Rogge became the new singer. In 2013 the album was released, which represented a departure from the previous concept albums. The illustrations for the booklet were again created by Greis. In addition to the CD version, the album was also released as a gatefold double LP .

Founding member Andreas Rinke left the company in 2014. In February 2016 the band announced the return of former members Andreas Rinke, Frank Brühning and Peter Dickert. Marco Dammann left the band.

Music genre

Wolfs Moon play traditional power and thrash metal in the style of the 1980s. The style of music is varied and variable. Sluggish passages alternate with quickly played pieces. With new singer Robert Rogge, who sings deeper than his predecessor, the band occasionally reminds of Sacred Steel . Another benchmark are Exciter , as well as the older albums Metallica , Manowar and Iron Maiden .
