Ivan Olexandrowytsch Herassymow (born August 8, 1921 in Pestrowka ( Sterlitamak Rajon , Bashkir ASSR , RSFSR ), † June 4, 2008 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was a Soviet army general and Ukrainian politician.

As the commander of a tank regiment and chief of staff of a tank brigade, Herassymov participated in the German-Soviet war . After the war he was, among other things, from October 1968 to November 1971 commander of the 1st Guards Armored Army of the Group of the Soviet Armed Forces in Germany near Dresden .

Herassymov had sat in the Verkhovna Rada , the Ukrainian parliament, for the Communist Party of Ukraine since April 2002 . There he was the oldest member of parliament. In 1999, Herassymov was awarded the Hero of Ukraine award.

He died in Kiev in 2008 and was buried in the Kunzewo Cemetery in Moscow .
