Western tunnel entrance

Wolfsschlucht III , or W3 , was a Führer headquarters of Adolf Hitler . It is located near Saint-Rimay , twelve kilometers west of Vendôme , in France. The bunker was built on May 1, 1942 at the northeast entrance of a railway tunnel, but was not completely completed.

The railway tunnel from the 19th century was reinforced with gates in the course of the construction of the Führer’s headquarters to protect the Führer special train against air attacks. The tunnel was only used once as a shelter for the special train, when Hitler met Franco in Hendaye on October 23, 1940 .
