VolgaTelekom ( Russian «Во́лгаТелеко́м» ) was a Russian company founded in 2002. VolgaTelekom is listed on the Moscow Stock Exchange in the RTS Index . The company was one of seven major regional telecommunications providers in Russia , which, in addition to VolgaTelekom, include CenterTelekom , Dalswjas , North-West Telekom , Rostelekom , Sibirtelekom , Southern Telekom and Uralswjasinform .
These seven regional companies emerged from the state-owned company Svyazinvest in the 1990s . Since April 1, 2011, the company has been a branch of the all-Russian telecommunications company Rostelekom with the name Volga .
WolgaTelekom served around 32 million customers in the Volga Federal District and thus around 22 percent of the Russian population.
