working @ office is a specialist magazine for office organization. It appears monthly by Media For Work , a small specialist publisher within VNR Verlag for the German economy .

history

The magazine has its origins in 1956 when the business publisher Th. Gabler published the Gabriele magazine . The name was based on an early typewriter model. The first renaming took place in 1974 and 1986 - first to Diekretärin , then to Secretariat .

The last major change to the name (to Working @ Office ) so far took place in 1999. Below, however, there have been a number of detailed changes in the subline:

  • Journal for Secretariat and Assistance (April 1999)
  • Magazine for women in the office (February 2000)
  • Magazine for modern office management (February 2007).

The transition of the magazine to the portfolio of Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden at the turn of the year 2009/2010 had no effect on the name. It was not until the sale to VNR-Verlag in February 2013 that the subline and the remaining spaces in the title were deleted.

Target group and content

The target group of the magazine are the assistants of boards, management and teams. Topics include office management , correspondence , foreign languages and communication .

Edition development

With a printed circulation of 20,000 copies, the publisher describes the magazine in the media data as the specialist magazine with the highest circulation in its segment in German-speaking countries.

According to the IVW evaluation, the widespread circulation of well over 60,000 copies in 1999 fell within 15 years by around 75% to below 16,500 copies in the fourth quarter of 2014, only to stabilize at a little over 17,000 copies.

Development of the distributed edition

The decline in the number of copies sold is not quite as obvious: from the all-time high in the fourth quarter of 1999 with a little over 22,000 copies, the curve went down less than 60% to the previous all-time low of just over 9,000 copies sold.
