Worldwatch Institute

The Worldwatch Institute (WI) was founded in 1974 by Lester R. Brown . The institute in the US capital Washington is an independent, interdisciplinary research institution that focuses on sustainability issues and environmentally and socially compatible technologies .

The annual publications of the WI, Zur Lage der Welt ... ( State of the world ... ) are well known. Some of the institute's publications can be downloaded as free PDF documents (after registration).

A current project is “Nourishing the Planet”, financed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation , among others , a comparative analysis of innovations that are supposed to help alleviate poverty and hunger.
