Word of the Year (Ukraine)

In Ukraine, the word of the year (Ukrainian: Слово року ) has been chosen by the dictionary "Myslovo" since 2013.

  • 2013: “ Євромайдан ” (Jewromajdan) - “ Euromaidan ”.
  • 2014: « кіборги » (kiborgy) - cyborgs (the name given to the Ukrainian soldiers who defended the Donetsk airport ).
  • 2015: “ блокада ” (blokada) - blockade (because of the blockade of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, which was annexed by the Russian Federation).
  • 2016: « корупція » (koruptsija) - corruption (because of its harmful influence on the Ukrainian state).
  • 2017: « безвіз » (besvis) - Besvis (neologism, which means the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union).
  • 2018: « томос » (tomos) - Tomos (in honor of the founding of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine ).
