Iclănzel [ iˈklənzel ] (outdated Iclandul Mic ; Hungarian Kisikland or Panit ) is a municipality in the Mureș County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .

The place is also known by the outdated names Iclănzăl and Iclănzelul .

The municipality of Iclănzel is located in the south of the Transylvanian Heath (Câmpia Transilvaniei) - part of the Transylvanian Basin . At the confluence of the Icland brook into the Lechința - a right tributary of the Mureș (Mieresch) - and the district road (drum județean) DJ 152A, Iclănzel is 13 kilometers north of the small town of Iernut and 33 kilometers west of the district capital Târgu Mureș ( Neumarkt am Mieresch) (17 kilometers as the crow flies).

Archaeological finds on the area of ​​the incorporated villages of Căpuşu de Câmpie (Feldthor) have been dated to the Bronze and Roman times, those at Iclandu Mare ( Nagyikland in Hungarian ) were assigned to a somewhat earlier period and are in the Déri Museum in the Hungarian city ​​of Debrecen .

In the Kingdom of Hungary , the place belonged to the Marosludas chair district in the Torda-Aranyos County, then to the historical Mureș District and from 1950 to the present Mureș District.

In 2017, the local council decided that the community of Iclănzel should be connected to the drinking and sewage network.

The highest number of inhabitants has been registered in the area of ​​today's municipality since 1850 and that of the Romanians in 1956. The highest number of Magyars (529) was recorded in 1900, Roma (122) in 1850 and that of Romanian Germans (11) in 1890.

Attractions

  • In the incorporated village of Căpuşu de Câmpie, the manor house of the Hungarian noble family Sándor , which is now a retirement home, was built in the 19th century and is a listed building.
  • The wooden church Sf. Arhangheli Mihail și Gavril, built in Iclănzel in the 18th century, has been a listed building in the village of Mădărășeni ( Hirtopa in Hungarian ) since 1980 .
