Rusii-Munti [ ruʃi Munts ] (deprecated Rusii de Munti ; German soot , Hungarian Marosoroszfalu ) is a commune in Mureş County , in the region of Transylvania in Romania .
The place Rușii-Munți is also known under the outdated name Rușii Munților , the German Reussians and the Hungarian Nagyoroszfalu and Oroszfalu .
Geographical location
The municipality Rușii-Munți is located in the Miereschtal in the northern part of the Transylvanian Basin in the northern foothills of the Gurghiu Mountains (Munții Gurghiu) and the southern of the Călimani Mountains (Munții Călimani) . On the upper reaches of the Mureș (Mieresch) , the county road (Drum județean) DJ 154A and the Târgu Mureș – Deda – Gheorgheni railway , the place Rușii-Munți is 21 kilometers northeast of the city of Reghin (Saxon Rain) and about 55 kilometers northeast of the District capital Târgu Mureș (Neumarkt am Mieresch) away. The incorporated villages are located two to five kilometers from the community center on both sides of the Mureș.
history
The place Rușii-Munți, founded by Russians , was first mentioned in a document (according to different information) in 1228 or 1319. Romanians were settled here in the 17th century . An archaeological find from the Bronze Age was made on the area of the community center and from the Late Bronze Age in the incorporated village of Maioreşti ( Maroslaka in Hungarian ) .
The Transylvanian military border , part of the so-called military border, ran on the territory of the municipality from 1764 to around 1850 .
In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality belonged to the Régen Felső (Ober-Regen) district in Maros-Torda County , then to the historical Mureș District and, from 1950, today's Mureș District.

Since 1850, the highest number of inhabitants and also that of the Romanians in 1956 were registered in the area of today's municipality. The highest number of Roma (158) was determined in 2011, that of Romanian Germans and Magyars in 1910.
The main occupation of the population is agriculture, animal husbandry and wood processing.
Attractions
- Apart from the village museum in the community center and some properties in the incorporated villages Morăreni (Hungarian Monosfalu ) and Sebeş (Hungarian Sebespatak ) from the 20th century, which are listed, there are no noteworthy sights to mention.
