Batoș ( German Botsch , Hungarian Bátos ) is a municipality located near Reghin ( Saxon Regen ) in the Mureș district in Transylvania , Romania .
location
The place is located on the Luț , a tributary of the Mureș , in the north of the Mureș district.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1228 under the name Batus .
For centuries the place was shaped by the Transylvanian Saxons who lived here . He has experienced lasting demographic change since the post-war period : through resettlement and flight , the majority of the German-speaking population left northern Transylvania after the end of the Second World War and settled in Germany and Austria .
In the 2002 census, one hundred people from the Botsch community identified themselves as Germans. The Romanians make up the majority of the population today (around two thirds).

In addition to the actual town, the municipality of Batoș also includes the villages of Dedrad ( German Zepling ), Goreni ( Hungarian Zepling or Schönbirk ) and Uila ( Weilau ).
