Rastolita [ rəstolit͡sa ] (deprecated Răstoşnea ; Hungarian Ratosnya ) is a commune in Mureş County , in the region of Transylvania in Romania .

Geographical location

The municipality of Răstolița is located in the northern foothills of the Gurghiu Mountains (Munții Gurghiu) and the southern foothills of the Călimani Mountains (Munții Călimani) - both mountain ranges of the Eastern Carpathians - on both sides of the upper reaches of the Mureș (Mieresch) , northeast of the Transylvanian Basin . The place Răstolița is located at the mouth of the river of the same name in the Mureș, at Drum național 15 and the railway line from Târgu Mureș to Gheorgheni , 35 kilometers northeast of the city of Reghin (Saxon Rain) and about 65 kilometers northeast of the district capital Târgu Mureș (Neumarkt am Mieresch) away.

The incorporated villages are three to seven kilometers from the community center.

The place Răstolița was first mentioned in 1770.

In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality belonged to the Régen Felső (Ober-Regen) district in Maros-Torda County , then to the historical Mureș District and, from 1950, today's Mureș District.

Since 1850, the highest number of inhabitants and that of the Romanians in 1992 were registered in the area of ​​today's municipality. The highest number of Magyars was recorded in 1941, that of Romanian Germans (91) in 1900 and that of Roma (78) in 1941. In addition, some Serbs , Slovaks and Ukrainians were registered with every admission .

The main occupation of the population is forestry.

Attractions

  • The Orthodox Church of Sf. Nicolae in Răstolița, built in 1750 and renovated in the 19th century, is a listed building.
  • The wooden church in Răstolița, built around the end of the 18th century, is not listed among the historical monuments of the Romanian Ministry of Culture.
