Bogata (outdated Bogata de Mureş ; Hungarian Marosbogát ) is a municipality in Mureş County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Bogata is located in the south of the Transylvanian Heath (Câmpia Transilvaniei) - part of the Transylvanian Basin - in the west of the Mureș district. On the right bank of the Mureş (Mieresch) , the village road (drum comunal) DC89 and the Alba Iulia – Târgu Mureş railway line , Bogata is seven kilometers east of the small town of Luduş (Ludasch) and about 45 kilometers west of the district capital of Târgu Mureş (Neumarkt am Mieresch) away.
The planned Romanian A3 , also called Autostrada Transilvania , is to run near Bogata .
history
The place Bogata was first mentioned in 1295. In the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the noble Bogati family , who were related to the Transylvanian-Saxon patrician family Altenberger.
Archaeological finds in the area called Deasupra satului by the locals indicate a settlement of the place Bogata in the Neolithic Age , at Bercul Țărcilor and Peste apă finds point to the Bronze Age . Numerous archaeological objects from the village area are in the museums of Aiud (Strasbourg am Mieresch) and Târgu Mureș.
In the register of historical monuments of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerul Culturii și Patrimoniului Național) , settlement in the area of the incorporated village of Ranta is noted in the Bronze Age .
At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality belonged to the Marosludas chair district in the Torda-Aranyos County , then to the historical Turda County and, from 1950, to the present Mureș County.

Since 1850, the highest number of inhabitants in the area of today's municipality was determined in 1941. The highest number of Magyars (1,592) and Romanian Germans (34) were registered in 1900, Romanians (1,494) in 1966 and Roma (193) in 2011.

- Iuliu Moldovan (1882–1966), was a doctor and in 1920 a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy .
