Pănet [ ˈpənet ] (outdated Panetul de Câmpie , or Panit ; Hungarian Mezőpanit or Panit ) is a municipality in the Mureș County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Pănet is located in the Transylvanian Heath (Câmpia Transilvaniei) - part of the Transylvanian Basin - approximately in the middle of the Mureș district. On the Cuieșd brook - a right tributary of the Mureș (Mieresch) - and the district road (drum județean) DJ 154F, the place Pănet is 12 kilometers west of the district capital Târgu Mureș (Neumarkt am Mieresch) ; five kilometers as the crow flies from Târgu Mureş Airport.
history
The place Pănet founded by Szekler , was first mentioned in 1332.
In the Kingdom of Hungary , the place belonged to the Maros alsó ("Unter-Maros") district in the Maros-Torda County, then to the historical Mureș County and from 1950 to the present Mureș County.
The town hall of the community was built between 2006 and 2008 and inaugurated in 2012.
Since there is no drinking water network in the community center, it was decided in mid-2018 that almost seven kilometers of water pipes would have to be laid for this.

The highest number of inhabitants has been registered in the area of today's municipality since 1850 and that of the Magyars in 1977. The highest number of Romanians was recorded in 1850, the Roma (531) in 2011 and that of Romanian Germans (14) in 1910.
Attractions
- In the community center the wooden church Sf. Arhangheli Mihail și Gavril in 1740 and the bell tower built in 1848 are listed buildings.
- According to the Romanian Ministry of Culture, the wooden gate of the Reformed Church in Pănet was built in 1787 and is a listed building.
- In the incorporated village of Cuieșd (Hungarian Székelykövesd ), the reformed church with its tower built in the 17th century in 1800 is a listed building.
- In unincorporated village Hartau (Hungarian Harco built), the Reformed Church in the 18th century with its tower in 1818, and the wooden church Sf. Arh. Mihail și Gavril, built in 1775 and renovated in 1824, are under monument protection.
