Helga Vala Helgadóttir

Helga Vala Helgadóttir (born March 14, 1972 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic actress, lawyer and politician of the Social Democratic Alliance .

Life

Helga Vala Helgadóttir graduated from the then Icelandic Drama School Leiklistarskóla Íslands (1998) and a Masters from the Law Faculty of Reykjavík University (2011). Among other things, she has worked as a theater actress, program editor for various radio stations and journalist. From 2008 to 2010 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Icelandic Post . In 2011 she was admitted to the bar ( héraðsdómslögmaður ) and subsequently ran her own law firm until 2017 . She is committed to Siðmennt , an organization affiliated to the International Humanist and Ethical Union . In addition to her previous work as a stage actress, she later appeared in smaller film roles, including in the thriller The Oath ( Eiðurinn ) by Baltasar Kormákur .

In the parliamentary elections on October 28, 2017 , Helga Vala was elected as the Alliance candidate for the Reykjavík North constituency in the Icelandic parliament Althing . As of January 2019, she is a member of the parliamentary committee for the environment and communication and is chair of the constitutional and supervisory committee.

family

Helga Vala is a daughter of the actors Helgi Skúlason and Helga Bachmann . Skúli Helgason , Reykjavík City Councilor and former Althing MP, is her brother.
