Ideciu de Jos [ ˈidet͡ʃiu de jos ] (outdated Igișul din Jos ; German  Nieder-Eidisch , Hungarian Alsóidecs ) is a municipality in the Mureș County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .

The municipality of Ideciu de Jos is located in the Reener Ländchen (Ținutul Reghinului) in the northern part of the Transylvanian Basin . At the mouth of the Deleni is the place Ideciu de Jos on the left bank of the Mureș (Mieresch) . On the district road (Drum județean) DJ 154A and the railway line Târgu Mureş – Deda – Gheorgheni , the place is five kilometers northeast of the city of Reghin (Saxon Rain) and about 35 kilometers northeast of the district capital Târgu Mureş (Neumarkt am Mieresch) . The incorporated villages are located about six kilometers north-northeast of the community center.

history

The place Ideciu de Jos was first mentioned in 1319. The long street village was mostly inhabited by Romanian Germans until 1944 . In addition to the salt springs and thermal baths, the place is also known for the onion cultivation in the region.

On the area of ​​the incorporated village of Ideciu de Sus (Upper Eidisch) , a coin that points to the Byzantine era was found.

In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality belonged to the Régen Felső (Ober-Regen) district in Maros-Torda County , then to the historical Mureș District and, from 1950, today's Mureș District.
