Beica de Jos (outdated Beica Ungurească ; German  Hungarian Birk , Hungarian Alsóbölkény ) is a municipality in the Mureș district , in the Transylvania region in Romania .

The place Beica de Jos is also known under the Hungarian names Magyarbölkény and Bölkény and the German name Ungarisch-Belken .

Geographical location

The municipality of Beica de Jos is located north of the Kokel Highlands (Podișul Târnavelor) in the Transylvanian Basin . On the Beica - a left tributary of the Mureș (Mieresch) - and the district road (Drum județean) DJ 153, the place Beica de Jos is nine kilometers southeast of the city of Reghin (Saxon Rain) and about 35 kilometers northeast of the district capital Târgu Mureș (Neumarkt am Mieresch) away. The incorporated villages are two to seven kilometers from the community center.
