Hodoșa [ hoˈdoʃa ] (outdated Hodiș ; Hungarian Székelyhodos or Hodos ) is a municipality in the Mureș County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .

Geographical location

The municipality of Hodoșa is located north of the Kokel Highlands (Podișul Târnavelor) in the Transylvanian Basin . At the brook Hodoș , a right tributary of the Niraj (Niersch) , and on the county road (Drum jude nordean ) DJ 135A, the place Hodoșa is 15 kilometers north of the small town Miercurea Nirajului (Sereda) and about 30 kilometers northeast of the district capital Târgu Mureș ( Neumarkt am Mieresch) away. The three incorporated villages are three to seven kilometers from the community center.

The place Hodoșa was first mentioned in 1332. No information is recorded on an earlier settlement of the community area, except that an archaeological find from the Bronze Age was assigned to the area of ​​Hodoșa .

In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality belonged to the Régen alsó chair district in Maros-Torda County , then to the historical Mureș District and, from 1950, today's Mureș District.
