Wortfix is a simple game for children and young people by Edith Lemmel, in which the players have to create words using randomly drawn letters . The game has been produced and marketed by Ravensburger in several editions since 1976 .

Gameplay

The game material for Wortfix consists of 25 red and 25 blue round tiles, each with a letter. In addition, there are a total of 30 blue and yellow scoring chips to document the score.

A red and a blue plate with a letter are always laid out. Compound words must be formed from the letters; in the example "W" and "D" are made, a possible compound word would be " W ater d ampf ".

The gameplay is kept simple. The cards are shuffled and laid out face down. In each round of the game, a blue and a red card are revealed and the players have to use the two letters that are exposed to form compound words, i.e. words made up of two individual words. The first word must start with the red letter, the second with the blue one. The player who first names a valid word receives a blue chip and the tiles are returned to the supply.

Blue chips are worth one point, yellow chips can be exchanged for five points. The game is played until there are no more chips available. The winner is the player who has the most points in the end.

For older players, it is recommended to restrict the terms to certain subject areas in order to make the game more challenging.
