Wrath is a Viking metal band originally formed in Cape Town , South Africa . Nazgul, the only member of the band, moved to England in 2002 .
Band history
Nazgul grew up as the son of German parents in Cape Town. After experimenting with a two-man band, he started Wrath as a solo project. The first pieces were initially written on the keyboard . He called the style Pagan Electronica . According to his own statements, he released three complete albums of this music genre. However, around 1999 Nazgul began working with electric guitars as well. In 2002 he first moved to England and began recording other titles there. The first release was the EP Savage Beauty , which was released in 2004 via unit productions . In 2005 another EP was released as an in-house production, Bloodstorm . Nazgul went to Germany to record the debut album . Viking was released by Unit Productions on August 5, 2005.
Music and lyrics
After initially releasing ambient songs, Nazgul began playing extreme metal in 1999. He is based on traditional Black Metal . He created the sound mainly with the metal zone pedal from BOSS , except for some reverb, the sound of the guitar was hardly changed after the recordings. His music should be reminiscent of the Viking era . In addition to texts about the time of the Vikings, his texts also deal with magic and darkness. It is important to Nazgul not to write decidedly satanic texts, but rather pagan anti - Christian pieces. Nevertheless, he describes his music as "Old Skool Berserk Black Metal".
