Wonderful is a song written by Cole Porter for the musical Kiss me, Kate in 1948 .

In the musical adaptation, the song was sung by Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson . A German translation comes from Günter Neumann .

Content of the song

The song describes a night of love that is "wonderful". The night that both lovers enjoy together is clear with stars and not a cloud can be seen. At the end there is the statement that the love of the two lovers is "wonderful".

Fame of the song in Europe

From 1949 the song Wunderbar was an integral part of the program of Zarah Leander's performances in Europe. In 1949 the song was the final number on her first appearance after the war in her home country Sweden. In 1951 Zarah Leander published her interpretation of the song on an album.
