The XFL was an American football league founded by WWE owner Vince McMahon as part of a joint venture with NBC television . Contrary to popular belief XFL not mean e X treme F ootball L eague. When the league was formed, the promoters insisted that the "X" stood for nothing.

history

There were no independent teams, all were owned by an organizer. Various changes to the NFL rules have increased the risk of injury to players in the XFL. And to draw attention to the show aspect of the league, cameras were installed in the dressing rooms and showers for the cheerleaders and the players.

The public interest in the XFL was not very great, it was dissolved again in 2001 after a year of gaming. In particular, the moderate sporting performance of the teams was given as the reason.

In 2018, Vince McMahon announced the restart of the XFL .
